Reconstruct

Reconstruct
The EU-funded Reconstruct project aims to develop circular solutions for the European construction industry to reduce its significant environmental impact.
Objective
A more eco-friendly construction industry that causes less damage to the environment: Reconstruct aims to show that this is possible, while serving as a demo model for a new generation of circular buildings.
Approach
The circular approach is applied using digitalisation and regional supply chains in the different steps of the construction process. Full-scale pilot buildings in Zellik and Barcelona are expected to demonstrate the potential and economic viability of the project. To reduce the use of primary non-renewable raw materials, the focus is on three areas: developing low-carbon alternatives to cement and steel, manufacturing building components that not only incorporate recycled materials but are also designed for modularity, and integrating the process of deconstruction into building design.
