Energy and climate
The climate is changing and a transition from “old” fossil fuels to “new” sustainable energy sources is becoming ever more pressing. At Green Energy Park, we are keen supporters of knowledge centres and companies that are not only seeking innovative solutions but also want to put them to good use.
Today, many researchers in our living labs are diligently searching for answers to questions such as: how do we strike a balance between the amount of electricity we produce and how much we consume? How do we organise the transition from centralised to decentralised energy production? Which sustainable energy sources do we use and how best do we do this? How can we accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy? Our Smart Village Lab is specially designed to enable you to play around with every possible parameter in a realistic, carbon-neutral living lab in an existing working and living environment.
But we also have a lot more up our sleeves. You’ll soon be able to use our hydrogen facility to investigate what role hydrogen can play in the energy transition. This will be equipped with hydrogen panels, a fuel cell, a gas mixer and various sensors. It will also have thermal buffers and a district heat network embedded in concrete ducts with utilities. To run our data centre in the most sustainable way possible, we make optimal use of rainwater and provide a fifth-generation district heat network between the data centre and a new lab building that is yet to be constructed. We connect not only technologies, but also different manufacturers and users.
